Waterford Boat Club has been based in our city since 1878. At almost 150 years old, it is the oldest sports club in the city and we are proud to say, one of the original founding members of Rowing Ireland. We have a deep history in the city and would attribute our survival to the generosity of our local members and businesses.
We are very proud of our Rowers, our Men, Women, Boys and Girls for the dedication and time they give to competing and achieving success for our Club. The Club has had many successes in recent years both nationally and internationally. Our Coaches and Members give a lot of their time practicing the sport and ensuring to keep a high level of fitness all year round. As a Club we provide training to our members 7 days a week, a much needed activity for young boys and girls after school and at weekends to achieve the fitness levels required to compete at national level. Our Members compete in events nationwide throughout the year and spend many weekends travelling around the country for these events.
The Waterford Boat Club is a well run Rowing Club that has loyalty and commitment at its core. We are passionate about our members safety and their wellbeing, allowing them to reach their potential in the art of rowing.
Our vision for the future is to grow The Waterford Boat club and have our club survive long into the future.
2016 saw Irish Rowers, the O’Donovan Brothers from Skibbereen win silver medals for Ireland at the Olympic’s. 2017 saw our Irish rowers achieve massive success in world championships.
Waterford Boat Club are passionate that Rowing becomes a sport for all to access.
